I’ve long considered some of the so-called Muslim Advocacy Groups such as CAIR and the Holy Land Foundation akin to the Mafia. After all, they’re intercontinental, secretive, neck deep in conspiracies, and carry on with illegal activities while hiding behind proprietary fronts — just like the Mafia.
On August 9th, I wrote a short, satirical piece called “CAIR’s Islamic Borgata: Bidness as usual (in mob speak).” In it, I used highlighted mob terms to tell the story, and as a way to show how much like the mob these Muslim groups really are. I also created the attached graphic entitled “Exorcise C.A.I.R Mafia.”
Here’s an excerpt from that post:
“Despite narrowly avoiding trips up the river and to the joint (by the hairs on their chinny chin chins), CAIR’s capo di tutti capi of the brugad, the crew, and wiseguys are all carrying on as usual with their Islamic intimidation racket.”
Today, I ran across the following piece, dated August 14th in the IBD:
A Muslim ‘Mafia’?
Homeland Security: Forget everything you’ve been told about “moderate” Muslim groups in America. New evidence that U.S. prosecutors have revealed at a major terror trial exposes the facade.
Exhibit No. 003-0085 is the most chilling. Translated from Arabic by federal investigators in the case against the Holy Land Foundation, an alleged Hamas front, the secret document outlines a full-blown conspiracy by the major Muslim groups in America — all of which are considered “mainstream” by the media.
In fact, they are part of the “Ikhwan,” or Muslim Brotherhood, the parent organization of Hamas, al-Qaida and other major Islamic terror groups. They have conspired to infiltrate American society with the purpose of undermining it and turning it into an Islamic state.
Check out this quote from Page 7 of the 1991 document:
“The Ikwhan must understand that all their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging their miserable house by the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Allah’s religion is made victorious over all religions.”
Sounds like the latest screed from Osama bin Laden. But it comes from the Muslim establishment in America.
The secret plan lists several Saudi-backed Muslim groups as “friends” of the conspiracy. }} more…
So, it appears I’m not alone in my views about conspiring Muslim groups here in the U.S resembling the Italian Mafia.
While no one can be absolutely sure their original idea for an article is/was the first mention of some concept, I do know that in this case the idea to write my piece came to me while reading Robert Spencer’s blog post about CAIR. It was finally the right time to put my Muslim Mafia thoughts into words, so I did just that.
I always find it interesting when an article like the one above immediately follows something some blogger (like me) mentioned first. This has happened to TMQ at least three (now four) times since we started blogging. It’s flattering, even if they weren’t familiar with our posts, because at least there was some validation of our views.
However, this does raise a question. Do writers and / or editors in the MsM get some (or most) of their “fresh” ideas from blogs? This is a valid question. Perhaps bloggers are morphing into the new MsM, or perhaps the Internet MsM are morphing into blogs. If so, may God help us on either count!
